Canopy lead

Mara Lindqvist

Mara reads the light the way others read a map. She sets off in the dark so the group is under the tallest trees exactly when the sun comes through, and she will wait as long as it takes.

About Mara
You do not chase light. You are already standing where it is going to be.
Mara Lindqvist, Canopy lead
Mara Lindqvist's emblem, a hand drawn seal for the Canopy Line
Where she came from
Mara came to the forest as a photographer and stopped taking pictures in her second season. She had worked out that the light she was chasing arrived in the same place every clear morning, and that standing in it was better than owning it.
How she guides
She walks in front and rarely talks. She reads the floor, not the sky, and she will move the whole group two metres to the left without explaining why. The reason arrives at 07:29, and it lasts nine minutes.
A walk with her
Slow, quiet, and timed to the minute. You will stand still more than you expect and you will not mind. Bring a thermos and the boots you have already walked in. Do not bring a headlamp.

The line, stop by stop.
